چکیده

The use of translocations to establish new or ‘refuge’ populations for species with high conservation value is controversial but widely used in management. One the risks this approach that an establishing population does not adequately capture genetic diversity donor gene pool. This effect, rarely examined, tested here. In study consequences two after five generations (16 years) European whitefish, Coregonus lavaretus, were quantified. Both made using almost same groups and thus represent a partly replicated natural study. Analysis 12 informative microsatellites showed expected heterozygosity, mean number alleles per locus allelic richness did differ between translocated populations. There was also no loss heterozygosity populations, nor deviations from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium expectations, signs linkage disequilibrium. All genetically differentiated pairwise FST values low, indicating magnitude divergence small. evidence inbreeding there significant differences private Of 50 found population, 16% rarer lost one 8% other. Allele without reduction strongly points stochastic drift effects having occurred following translocation. indicates detected have arisen de novo It concluded comprising even modest propagules can successfully proportion variation host reduced may be mitigated by emergence over short time periods.

All - Termination ( SCP )

We recently introduced the All-Termination(T ) problem: given a termination solver T and a function F , find every subset of the formal parameters to F whose consideration is sufficient to show, using T , that F terminates. These subsets can be harnessed by a theorem prover to locate and justify induction schemes, and are also useful for guiding rewriting heuristics and ensuring their terminati...

Impact of SCP-2/SCP-x gene ablation and dietary cholesterol on hepatic lipid accumulation.

While a high-cholesterol diet induces hepatic steatosis, the role of intracellular sterol carrier protein-2/sterol carrier protein-x (SCP-2/SCP-x) proteins is unknown. We hypothesized that ablating SCP-2/SCP-x [double knockout (DKO)] would impact hepatic lipids (cholesterol and cholesteryl ester), especially in high-cholesterol-fed mice. DKO did not alter food consumption, and body weight (BW) ...

Three-dimensional structure/function analysis of SCP-2-like2 reveals differences among SCP-2 family members.

Mosquito sterol carrier protein-2 (AeSCP-2) and sterol carrier protein-2-like2 (AeSCP-2L2) are members of the SCP-2 protein family with similar expression profiles in the mosquito life cycle. In an effort to understand how lipids can be transported by different SCP-2 proteins, the three-dimensional crystal structure of AeSCP-2L2 was solved at 1.7 A resolution. AeSCP-2L2 forms a dimer and binds ...

SCP in Agriculture and Rural Development

Introduction Achieving more sustainable consumption and production in the agricultural sector requires a coherent response to the intimate linkages between agricultural production, agro-ecosystems and the people who rely on them, and also the concerns and preferences of a growing number of consumers. Less input intensive and more resource efficient agriculture offers a means to strengthen the c...

SCP-2/SCP-x gene ablation alters lipid raft domains in primary cultured mouse hepatocytes.

Although reverse cholesterol transport from peripheral cell types is mediated through plasma membrane microdomains termed lipid rafts, almost nothing is known regarding the existence, protein/lipid composition, or structure of these putative domains in liver hepatocytes, cells responsible for the net removal of cholesterol from the body. Lipid rafts purified from hepatocyte plasma membranes by ...
